An award and stuck for words, another first for me!

This year’s Kent Independent Traders Awards took place last week, and much to my surprise I won Creative (non-digital) Business of the Year, and I’m thrilled!

I was in one of the most popular categories, which had over 50 entries, and there were 8 finalists, some of whom were my very good friends and fellow Metis Women – I honestly didn’t think I had a chance!

Thank you so much to the lovely and extremely talented artist, CJ Munn from Rockabelly Lifecasts and Master and Munn) for my nomination, (who also was a winner in the Customer Service category). I don’t think I’ve come down from my cloud nine yet!

Overall, it was a fantastic night, and I was even more thrilled to see so many of my designs in the room (including the host Hilary Steel, editor of Kent Women in Business magazine), it made it even more special.

I was presented the award by the fabulous Deborah Turner of You Image Consultancy, whose lovely bracelet got stuck to my dress as she hugged me when I got up onto the stage! I wasn’t really trying to nick her jewellery!

I’ve never been stuck for words before, I was in shock, standing on a stage in front of about 150 people clutching my award and I had no idea what to say - of course I hadn’t prepared a winner speech. I still can’t remember what I said, it was a few garbled “thank yous” and that was it! I remember last year, when I was runner-up for this same award, I had lots of ideas in my head of what to say if I had won, but this time, shock took over and my head was blank – and maybe the Champagne and Zinfandel Rose might have played a part in it too!

This award is the icing on the cake, topping off a really fantastic and exciting year for me. The past few months I’ve been going through a bit of a re-brand, and I’ve got a brand spanking new website to match Kathryn Cooper Jewellery,  which I am delighted with. Hopefully you’ve had a chance to have a look around.

I’ve also been working in the background on a fantastic collaboration with a company called The Able Label www.theablelabel.com which provides quality, stylish clothes with adapted designs and hidden extras to make self-dressing easier for those that don’t find it easy. A fantastic place for people to go that want to look great, and not have to worry about how to dress or undress themselves. And what does every woman need with a stylish outfit? Some stunning accessories, of course!

Now the nights are beginning to draw in too, and Christmas isn’t too far away, so the orders are beginning to roll in. I’m already taking orders for Christmas, so if you do have something in mind that you’d like designing to go with your Christmas party outfit, or for a gift for a friend or family member, please don’t wait, I don’t want you to be disappointed.

I just want to end by saying thank you to every one of my customers, I really wouldn’t have won this award without you all, you make it such a pleasure, I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t keep creating for you all!

Keep an eye out for my next blog with the launch of my new range! Thanks Kathryn x
